This year’s edition of the competitive Dalit Festival, held on September 29 during the feast of St. Michael, drew 11 contingents for the barangay category and 6 contingents for the invitational category. Presentation was composed of street dancing and a ritual with instrumentalists for the Dalit beat. Costume, accessories and props had to be incorporated with the three basic Dalit steps of prayer, praise and grace, The street dancing was performed in front of the city hall and the ritual was performed at the city plaza.
Criteria for judging were Choreography (30%), Performance (25%), Theme/Concept (15%) and costume(15%). The winners of the top prizes were Tangub City National High School in the barangay category (P80,000) and Sundayag Cultural Dance Troupe of Pagadian City in the invitational (P1000,000).
MISS TANGUB CITY TOURISM 2008 Mayumi Desiree C. Bester congratulates Dalit Festival Queen 2008 Dian Crausus, the lead dancer of Saint Michael’s High School of Tangub City. Dian, a fourth year high school student, bested 14 other candidates to win the P5,000 cash prize, trophy and bouquet.
