‘F*** you,’ Duterte tells European Union

President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday lashed out at the European Union (EU) and the United States for criticizing the extra-judicial killings and human rights abuses linked to administration’s war on illegal drugs.

Speaking in front of local government officials in Lanang, Davao City, Duterte vented his ire at the E.U. after the European Parliament last week urged the Philippine government to put an end to alleged extra-judicial executions in police operations and killings by vigilante groups.

The E.U. also urged the Philippine government to launch an immediate investigation into the killings and adopt “specific, comprehensive policies and programs,” in full compliance with national and international obligations and respect for human rights.

The European Parliament also strongly condemned the attack at a night market in Davao City that left at least 15 people dead and 70 others wounded, and conveyed their condolences to the victims’ relatives. They called on the EU delegation in the Philippines to “monitor carefully the ‘rule of lawlessness'” declared by the Duterte administration after the attack.

Duterte, in response, spilled vitriol at the European Union.

“Nung nabasa ko ‘yung E.U. condemnation, sabihin ko sa kanila, f**k you. You’re doing it in atonement of your sins,” Duterte said. [When I read the E.U. condemnation, I’m telling them, f**you. You’re doing it in atonement of your sins.]

“Hipokrito itong, you should look at history books, encyclopedia of events. Sila ‘yun eh, Britain, France. Tapos itong EU ngayon has the gall to condemn me. Again, I repeat it, f**ck you,” he added. [They are hypocrites. You should look at history books, encyclopedia of events. It’s them, Britain, France. And the EU now has the gall to condemn me. Again, I repeat it, f**ck you.]

He also had words for the United States.

“Ang akala kasi ng bugok na Amerika, Europe, matagal na ang issue on killings of Filipinos before, and they are now focusing on human rights,” he said. [What the spoiled eggs America and Europe think is that the killing of Filipinos is an old issue and they are now focusing on human rights.]

“Ang Amerika napaka-hipokrito, they went to Iraq. They killed Saddam, without weapons of mass destruction. China and Russia are supporting Saddam,” he said. [America is a hypocrite. They went to Iraq. They killed Saddam, without weapons of mass destruction. China and Russia are supporting Saddam.”

Duterte said “stupid lawyers” from other countries should cite what laws make it illegal for him to threaten criminals.

FINAL ‘NARCO-LIST’

During the same gathering in Lanang, Duterte said he will entrust his final “narco-list” to the local government officials of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) and Mindanao.

Duterte also said it is up to them to coordinate with the regional police directors and commanders to handle the local officials in their areas who are on the list.

He repeatedly flipped the thick list containing the names of judges, mayors, barangay and police officials, saying it is very difficult for him to act on it.

“I cannot kill them all even if I want to because of the sheer volume,” Duterte said.

Duterte went at length in reminding the local officials of the reason behind his war against drugs, and recounted again his campaign and eventual rise to the presidency.

At one point, Duterte went to the flagpole, held the flag and did his trademark campaign one-liner: “This is the only thing that should bind us together.”

He did not comment on the ongoing House hearing on illegal drugs in the New Bilibid Prison, but chose to recall how now-Senator Leila de Lima investigated him on the Davao Death Squad and extra-judicial killings in Davao City when she was still the chairperson of the Commission on Human Rights (CHR).

He earlier told reporters that he will not intervene in the House because it is not his territory. – with reports from Doris Bigornia and Hernel Tocmo, ABS-CBN News
